A Rap singer who used lewd words some days back in public during a musical show was yesterday taken into police custody for interrogation.
Kaise Kais the Rap singer has used an obscene word in the company of a group of accompanying singers at this musical show which is supposed to have
taken place in Mount Lavinia and he made reference by citing the 'mother' and after saying this as his first line he had welcomed the audience to join in by singing the rest of it. This piece incidentally had been videoed by some person on his mobile phone and released to the internet after which this dialogue emerged.
The President Kirthi Pasqual and the secretary Janaka Wickremasingha of the Singers' Association who were perturbed because of subjecting the Sinhala Art of Singing to such a low level like this had made a complaint to Kohuwala Police yesterday and as a result Kaise Kais was summoned to police last evening and was released after obtaining a statement of close upon a period of one hour. The problem relating to him is expected to be forwarded in the near future to the courts.
What Kaise Kais has said was that because of an incident that took place at the previous performance he had blurted out those words at a moment when he was in an angry mood and that he regrets what took place unwillingly. He has gone on to make a comment in his Facebook Page similar to it and has solicited pardon in that respect.
