rices of all cigarette brands have been increased by a minimum of Rs. 5 each (Approx 15%) from today (Nov. 1), the Ceylon Tobacco Company announced.
The price of a Dunhill, Benson & Hedges pack of 20 cigarettes has been increased to Rs 1,100 while Gold Leaf has been increased to Rs 1,000.
The price a Bristol Original pack of 20 cigarettes is now Rs 660 and Bristol Gold is Rs 700. Capston 20 pack has been increased to Rs 400.
The prices of cigarettes was increased by Rs 7 per cigarette with effect from midnight 3 October as well.
Last month the Cabinet approved the proposal to impose 15% VAT on cigarettes plus an increase in production tax by Rs. 5 per cigarette.
