Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rakapalsa denied responsibility
for the creation of the 'Aava' gang in the north, adding that such allegations
made by a Cabinet minister is a disgrace to the army.
Minister Rajitha Senaratne
yesterday claimed that Rajapaksa and a senior military official were behind the
creation of the group.
Rajapaksa
said that the army does not engage in such disgraceful practices. Senaratne's claim
is a disgrace to the army more than to him, Rajapaksa added.
The 'Aava'
gang recently came to the limelinght with the attack on two policemen in
Chunnakam.
